The national grid collapsed on Wednesday, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed in a public notice dated September 10, 2025, shared on its official X handle.
According to the company, the ongoing power outage resulted from a disruption in supply from the national grid at 11:23 a.m., affecting electricity distribution across its service areas.
In its statement, AEDC explained: “Please be informed that the current power outage is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 a.m. today, which has impacted electricity supply across our franchise areas.”
The company assured customers that efforts were underway to restore normal supply, adding: “We are working closely with relevant stakeholders to stabilize the grid and resume electricity distribution as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
