The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has informed its members about recent developments with the Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) newly launched AI-powered Intelligent Company Registration Portal (ICRP).
In a letter dated August 26, 2025, the CAC acknowledged that the transition from the old Company Registration Portal (CRP) to the ICRP has caused challenges for users. The CRP previously covered only about 30% of CAC services and could no longer support the Commission’s expansion, prompting the shift to the AI-driven portal.
The CAC assured that measures are in place to address the disruptions. Key updates include:
-
Backend Restored: CAC confirmed its backend systems have been fully restored.
-
Clearing Backlog: Staff have been directed to resolve pending requests within one week, with many volunteering to work weekends to expedite the process.
-
Emergency Helpdesk: A dedicated helpdesk has been set up in the Office of the Special Adviser to the Registrar-General for urgent complaints. Members can reach the desk at stakeholderscomplaints@cac.gov.ng.
-
Stabilization Timeline: The portal is expected to reach 95% stabilization by September 7, 2025, with full optimization and phased expansion planned over the next six months.
The NBA welcomed these assurances from Registrar-General/CEO Ishaq Hussaini Magaji, SAN, and pledged to continue engaging with CAC to protect members’ interests. Lawyers experiencing ongoing difficulties with the ICRP are advised to use the helpdesk and keep records for follow-up.
NBA Publicity Secretary Bridget Edokwe reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to advocating for efficient, transparent, and user-friendly public service systems while safeguarding the professional and business interests of Nigerian lawyers.
