The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch “A” Stream I Orientation Course will begin nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, at all 37 NYSC orientation camps across the country.

In a statement shared on the NYSC’s official X account on Tuesday, the agency stated that registration for corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21, until midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the closing ceremony will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, extended his goodwill to prospective corps members and wished them safe journeys to their states of deployment. He also cautioned them against travelling at night. NYSC management further emphasized the importance of strictly following the orientation timetable to ensure the programme runs smoothly.

Established in 1973 after the Nigerian Civil War to foster national unity and integration, the NYSC programme begins with a compulsory three-week orientation camp. During this period, corps members participate in paramilitary training, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development activities, lectures on national matters, and various cultural programmes.
