Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, a popular cleric from Anambra, has advised aspiring university students to steer clear of studying political science, history, microbiology, library information science, and sociology.
In a video that went viral on X Monday, Odumeje criticized these courses as unproductive, especially for those from less privileged backgrounds.
He said, “If your family isn’t connected to politics or government, don’t waste time studying political science, history, microbiology, or sociology. These courses are pointless. Also, library information science—better to learn a trade like barbing instead. Don’t waste your time and money on nonsense. Education should bring blessings, so pick courses that matter. That’s why so many graduates are jobless.”
Odumeje, known for his flamboyant preaching style, has made headlines before for controversial statements. Recently, he hinted at a 2027 presidential bid, insisting Nigeria needs youthful, tech-savvy leadership rather than “old cargoes.”
Speaking during a sermon, he did not specify a political party but declared, “Past and present leaders have failed due to age and lack of vision. Nigeria needs a vibrant, forward-thinking leader like me. I’m coming out for president.”
He asked his followers if they were ready for his leadership, promising to bring modern development and a digital future. “Are you ready for me? Odumeje for president? I know what you need. I want to build a main road called Citadel and offer a modern, digital life,” he said.
