JAMB temporarily shuts portal for 2025 WASSCE result upload to fix technical issues

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily shut down its portal for uploading the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

According to a post on X, the move is to address technical glitches affecting candidates who had earlier submitted the first set of released results.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained that the temporary closure of its 2025 WASSCE result upload portal is to fix issues affecting candidates who had earlier uploaded results from the initial release.

In a statement, the board assured affected applicants that the problem is being resolved and they will be notified once it is time to re-upload their results. “Please be patient while our technical team works on the portal. You will be contacted shortly to upload your result,” JAMB said.

The shutdown affects admission seekers for the 2024/2025 academic session, who are required to submit their WASSCE results as part of the process. The update aims to ensure accuracy and eliminate any discrepancies in the admissions database.

This move follows similar temporary closures by other examination bodies in Nigeria. On August 6, WAEC suspended its result checker portal shortly after releasing results, citing technical bugs in subjects such as Mathematics, English, Biology, and Economics. NECO also recently shut down its exam platforms for maintenance after repeated downtime disrupted result checks, registrations, and verifications, with some students experiencing delays in international applications.

Meanwhile, JAMB reported record-high performance in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)—the best since the adoption of Computer-Based Testing in 2013. This year, 17,025 candidates (0.88%) scored 300 and above, up from 8,401 (0.46%) in 2024 and 5,318 (0.35%) in 2023.

Similarly, 117,373 candidates (6.08%) scored 250 and above, compared to 77,070 (4.18%) in 2024 and 56,736 (3.73%) in 2023. For scores of 200 and above, 565,988 candidates (29.3%) reached the mark, rising from 439,961 (24%) in 2024 and 355,689 (23.36%) in 2023.

For the upcoming admission cycle, minimum cut-off marks have been set at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences.
