Nigerian newspapers review: How modern life is rendering men infertile

In today’s edition of the Nigerian newspapers review programme Today in the News, Vanguard highlights a special report on how modern lifestyles are negatively impacting men’s fertility.

Another story covers the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) cautioning the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against marginalizing opposition parties. Vanguard also reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a seven-day strike notice to the Federal Government, demanding repayment of allegedly misappropriated workers’ funds from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and the immediate appointment of the governing board for the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

Across other newspapers, The Guardian reports that political parties are competing for 16 seats in critical by-elections, which could influence the 2027 elections. The Punch leads with coverage of the looming strike as PenCom and the NLC clash over pension funds.

Finally, The Nation features the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, praising President Bola Tinubu for stabilizing Nigeria’s economy.
