The Dangote Refinery will launch its free fuel distribution programme on Monday, according to The PUNCH.
In a statement, Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina confirmed that the initiative will kick off in Lagos, the South West, the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States.
He also revealed that petrol pump prices have been reduced to ₦841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, and ₦851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta States.
“We are beginning the free fuel distribution scheme on Monday. The rollout will start with Lagos and the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States. The price cut will also take effect from Monday as the distribution begins,” Chiejina stated.
The scheme, initially scheduled to commence in August, was postponed due to logistics delays in China. The refinery has since received over 1,000 trucks to facilitate the launch.
More states are expected to join the programme as additional trucks arrive in the country.
Meanwhile, Dangote announced on Thursday that it has begun deploying CNG-powered trucks on a large scale to strengthen logistics and cut distribution costs across Nigeria’s domestic economy.
“Although CNG prices doubled just last week, this will not stop our plan to roll out 10,000 CNG trucks this year,” the company affirmed.
