A viral video showing an injured young woman, reportedly 18 years old, has sparked public concern and calls for intervention over alleged domestic abuse.

The footage, shared on X, shows the woman with visible facial injuries while a man identified as her husband argues with neighbours confronting him about the alleged mistreatment. Witnesses can be heard urging him to leave her alone as he attempts to pull her away. Some bystanders accused him of repeatedly assaulting and manipulating the young woman.

In a separate video recorded at what appeared to be a hospital, the woman was seen alongside human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu. While discussions were underway about having the man arrested, she pleaded with those present not to pursue legal action against him. She stated that she intended to leave the marriage but did not want her husband arrested.

The videos generated widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern for her safety and questioning why she appeared reluctant to support action against her husband. Others highlighted the broader issues of domestic violence, early marriage, and the need to protect vulnerable women.

Following calls for intervention, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency responded to tagged posts on X, confirming that it was looking into the matter.

The incident has reignited discussions about domestic abuse, the challenges victims face when seeking help, and the role social media plays in drawing attention to cases that may require official intervention.
