The Federal Government has announced an increase in fees for Nigerian passports, set to take effect on September 1, 2024. This was revealed on Wednesday by Kenneth Udo, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), through a statement on the NIS's X handle.
Udo explained that the fee hike is intended to preserve the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport. "To uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, the Federal Government has approved a fee increase, effective September 1, 2024," he stated.
According to the new fee structure, the cost of a 32-page passport with a five-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000, while a 64-page passport with a ten-year validity will increase from N70,000 to N100,000.
Although the NIS expressed regret over any inconvenience the increase may cause applicants, it reassured Nigerians of its commitment to transparency and high-quality service.
